What is the easiest way to attend the Heritage Festival?
Walk or Bike
There are the energy saving, pollution, traffic-solving watchwords for the 2006 Kent Heritage Festival! The Kent Environmental Council invites and challenges all to explore alternative modes of getting to this year’s Festival…and to imagine a festival in which automobiles are hidden away for a quiet day of rest, and foot-or-bike-travel becomes the order of the day!
Persons who walk, bike, or ride the bus will be awarded a “Save Energy…Stop Pollution” sticker for proud display throughout the festival – given by the PARTA bus driver, or at the KEC booth on North Water Street.
Free parking will be available at the KSU Student Center parking lot, with free shuttle service provided by PARTA between Downtown and the Parking Lot. PARTA’s “Interurban Route” will provide regular-pay service between Robinson Memorial Hospital; - via Downtown Ravenna, thru Main Street in Kent, and to the Stow-Kent Plaza (Target) – leaving hourly in wither direction. South Water Street/Franklin Avenue service (40s), between the KSU Student Center and Indian Valley apartments, will also be provided. Exact schedules may be obtained from PARTA.
All citizens are urged to find an “alternate-transportation” way of getting there! To quote an aging (but anonymous) bicycler – “We can do it, Kent! The solution is in our feet!!” – or in a smart use of outlying parking facilities, together with the PARTA shuttle service.
