Kent Area Chamber of Commerce announces modified version of Kent Heritage Festival
Akron band Mo’Mojo will be the final band performing during the Kent Heritage Festival fireworks display on June 26. Mo’Mojo will be at the Hometown Bank Plaza from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Fireworks are set to go off at 10:00 p.m.
Fireworks will be seen in downtown Kent this summer.
Sponsored each year by the Kent Area Chamber of Commerce, the chamber is partnering with the City of Kent, AMETEK, Hometown Bank, and Woodsy’s Music to promote downtown Kent businesses and celebrate community spirit.
“We had to cancel the festival last year due to the pandemic, but we are excited that we are able to move forward with some form of the festivities this year,” Chamber President Mary Kline said.
Live music will be performed at the Hometown Bank Plaza stage on North Water Street and at the Dan Smith Community Park stage on East Erie Street from 2 to 9:30 p.m. Visitors will be able to hear a range of music genres from blues to rock to western swing, according to Paul Braden of Woodsy’s Music.
Bands that are lined up to perform are the Flat Earth Ramblers, Immortal Porpoises and Rachel and the Beatnik Playboys. Mo’ Mojo will round out the evening and finish up just in time for the annual fireworks display by American Fireworks. Fireworks will be set off from Kramer Ball Fields at 10 p.m., so onlookers from downtown will have a first-rate view.
“We look forward to seeing people come downtown with their families and friends and support our local businesses and eateries, grab a DORA drink, enjoy the live music, and stay for the awesome fireworks display,” Kline said.
