  • Michelle M. Hartman, Executive Director

    Michelle has served as an Honorary Board Member of the chamber since 2019 and previously held roles as a member of the executive board and board of directors since 2006. She served as president of the chamber in 2013.

    Prior to taking on this role, Michelle was the COO/Executive Vice President of The Burbick Companies. Her vision and leadership were instrumental in the management and successful growth of Acorn Alley. She also managed the businesses and residential units located in Acorn Corner (formerly the old Franklin Hotel) and the storefronts located in the Kent Central Gateway.

    Michelle's ambition to promote economic growth in Kent combined with her passion to make a positive difference has led her to several community leadership roles and volunteer opportunities supporting numerous charitable initiatives for the betterment of the community. She currently serves on the board for Kent Social Services, Friends Fighting Hunger, and the Destination Kent Convention & Visitors Bureau, of which she helped to establish in 2016. Michelle is an avid supporter of Roosevelt Roughrider Football and the KSU Golden Flashes!

    Michelle is a graduate of Malone University with a B.A. in Business Administration and has lived in Kent for the past 32 years with her husband, Darrin, and they have 3 children, Brendan, EmiLee, and Payne.

     

  • Anne E Moneypenny, Executive Assistant

    Anne has been a member of the Kent Area Chamber of Commerce since the 1970's when she first started working in Kent.  She worked for Kline & Kavali Plumbing & Heating; Silver Oaks Retirement Community; Moneypenny Realty & Management and Jack Kohl Realty. 

    In 2009, she was elected President of the Chamber and in January of 2014 she became the executive assistant to the executive director.  She attended The University of Akron and Kent State University taking various courses in art and business.  In her spare time, Anne is active in her parish; involved with prison ministry; and volunteers at a nursing home.
