    Name: 2nd Annual Potterfest
    Date: July 29, 2017
    Time: 12:00 PM - 9:00 PM EDT
    Event Description:
The wild success of Kent Potterfest 2016 has spurred on the second annual event, to take place on Sat., July 29th, from 12pm to 9pm in downtown Kent. This will be an opportunity for Harry Potter fans of all ages to come together and celebrate everything Harry Potter. Main Street Kent is hosting the event, which will include costume contests, potion classes, event-themed vendors, photo booths and more. Acorn Alley will transform into Diagon Alley for the day, with local businesses taking on the identity of shops from the Harry Potter books and offering crafts, activities and special menu items in the spirit of the event. The event planning committee is diligently working on entertainment, activities, and a magical day for visitors and residents of downtown Kent.

Due to large crowds at the 2016 event, Main Street Kent has secured permission from the City of Kent to close the following streets for the July 29, 2017 event: E. Main St. from Water St. to Depeyster St., Burbick Way from the Tree City Coffee drive-thru to Depeyster St., and Erie St. from the Tree City Coffee drive-thru to Depeyster St. This will create a traffic-free, pedestrian friendly event area from the Dan Smith Community Park through Acorn Alley I and II, and onto E. Main St., allowing Woodsy’s Music to operate and utilize their private parking lot during the event. Plans are in the works for a shuttle service utilizing the existing PARTA route and a parking lot at Kent State University. Event planning updates can be found on the Main Street Kent Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/MainStreetKent/ and on their website as the event approaches: www.mainstreetkent.org. An updated press release will be sent once plans are in place for the 2017 event.

Currently, event sponsors and supporters include Acorn Alley, College Town Kent, and Off the Wagon, all who are excited to support this popular event again after a successful first year. Sponsorship opportunities are available, and will offer tremendous exposure for interested businesses; for information, please call executive director Heather Malarcik of Main Street Kent at 330-677-8000.
