Event Description:
The Kent Area Chamber of Commerce and City of Kent are proud to announce the winners of their respective Tree City Awards, recognizing and celebrating Kent’s best in business.
The following businesses and individuals will be honored at the Annual Tree City Awards on Thursday, November 16, at the Kent State University Hotel and Conference Center.
IMMY -- Black Iron Grille, Franklin Hotel Bar, Kent Natural Food Co-Op and Treno Ristorante The IMMY Award was established to publicly recognize quality businesses and/or individuals in the greater Kent area in support of economic retention, reinvestment and new facilities development.
Small Business Person of the Year -- Rick Bissler, Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory This award is presented to the small business person that exemplifies the best of Kent’s small enterprises (less than 30 employees), a tradition since 1983.
President’s Award -- Chas Madonio This award is selected by the sitting Chamber Board President and presented to an individual in appreciation for support and commitment to the Kent Area Chamber of Commerce.
Bright Star Award -- Mayor Jerry Fiala This award goes to the Chamber’s volunteer of the year, someone who selflessly promotes the Chamber and is considered one of the team.
W.W. Reed Medal for Public Service -- John J. Flynn This is the highest honor conferred by the Kent Area Chamber of Commerce. Bestowed on individuals, institutions, or organizations whose community service has resulted in the advancement of the common good, promotion of public welfare, or stimulation of public service. Since 1946, 58 Public Service Awards have been conferred.
The City of Kent will present Economic Development Achievement Awards to the following:
AxessPointe Healthcare Community Center, MadCap Brew Co., and Main Street Kent.
